Our Logo

The new SCTA logo’s bold new icon with the four interlocking hands was created by shíshálh Nation artist Manuela Salinas.

I wanted to symbolize a diverse community inter-connectedly coming together. The four colours mirror the medicine wheel. Traditional colours that we indigenous peoples have been using as sacred meanings for thousands of years. A medicine wheel has an abundance of meaning such as highlighting the many diverse peoples that live in this world, the four directions, the four seasons, the four elements, emotions, plants, animals, the solar system, the life cycle, times of day, etc. In the design you can see the hands tightly weaving together, emphasizing the strength of coming together.

The new icon that Manuela created was then taken by John and Roberta Ridd at Topshelf Creative and incorporated into a cohesive package with typography to create a versatile new branding package with several different variations that should serve the SCTA well for years to come.
